Stephen R Stone, D.C.

Green-- Stephen R Stone D.C. (Doctor of Chiropractic), 70, passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2023. He was born in Akron, Ohio to Dr. Richard E and Rita M (nee Drescher) Stone. He graduated from Archbishop Hoban High School in 1971 and attended the University of Akron, from there he attended the National College of Chiropractic and graduated in 1978. He met Mary Terese Trenta in 1970 and were married in 1974.  They enjoyed 48 years together. He worked at Stone Chiropractic Clinic from 1978 until his retirement from chiropractic in 2020.  He then continued to work as an acupuncturist.

Dr. Stone was very active at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Parish. He was a reader and taught Bible Study and CCD.  He volunteered as a lay eucharistic minister at Pebble Creek Nursing Home. He also volunteered as an instructor for the American Red Cross and the Civil Air Patrol.  He will fondly be remembered as a good story teller, frequently embellishing facts or events to make the story more interesting.  He was always “Happy and Grateful”.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Richard E and Rita M (nee Drescher) Stone, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank J and Ann H (nee Erzen) Trenta, grandparents, Stephen and Genevieve Drescher and Raymond and Jessie Stone, brothers Richard E Stone Jr. and Christoher J Stone, godparents, Trudy and Jerry Rennie.

He is survived by loving wife, Mary Terese, brother Dr. Jonathan (Joanne) Stone, sisters, Laura Stone and Jennifer (Terry) Stove, five godchildren and many cousins.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday, July 2, 2023 at House of Eberhardt Funeral Home, 472 W Turkeyfoot Lk. Rd. (Rt. 619) Portage Lakes from 4 pm to 7 pm.  Followed by the Rosary at 7 pm.

Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, July 3, 2023 at 11 am at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 4019 Manchester Rd., Akron, Ohio with Fr. Jeremy Merzweiler as celebrant.
