Obituary

RONALD W MATZ

Ronald “Ron” W. Matz, 64 passed away on August 12, 2023.

Born in Akron and a graduate of Manchester High School in 1977, Ron worked for BICO Steel Service.

Ron’s favorite pastime was fishing, using every kind of lure imaginable whether it be shrimp or cheese to catch the big one along with all types of poles, pole holders and chairs.  Ron’s other favorite things to do was putt-putt golf, hiking the trails during the Fall Spree, watching baseball especially going to the Rubber Duck’s game on firework nights, feeding his favorite tamed squirrel in the backyard during summer nights and getting kitty “high fives” from his favorite kitties Clarice and Sophie.

Ron loved his job at BICO and would go in early to sit and have coffee with his co-workers before his shift would start.  He spent 30 plus years there working in sales, the shop, doing drafting and finally working as a machinist making sure all the plates were as specified.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents Peggy Matz, Roger Matz and brother, Scott, he is survived by daughter Melissa Matz, grandson Ryan, sister Robin Matz, longtime partner Stephanie Beney, and special friends Laura Dzubara and Al Morganti.

Cremation has taken place with services pending.  Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
