Obituary

Rachel Ann deGuia-Davis, 28, of Canal Fulton, Ohio was set free from her battle with cancer on Friday, July 22, 2022. She passed away at home surrounded by her family and friends. Rachel was one of the most honest, fun loving, compassionate, and determined 28 year-olds you’d ever meet. Anyone who crossed her path was blessed with her joy for life and admirable strength.

She grew up in Canal Fulton, Ohio and was a dedicated student-athlete at both Northwest High School and Gannon University. She was an accomplished basketball and softball player at Northwest High School. She received many awards throughout her high school career including: The Lady Indian Award for basketball, Honorable Mention in the Division II Coaches’ Association, team MVP, and the Russell “Sarge” Sherhag Award for softball during her senior year at Northwest High School. She graduated with Honors from Northwest High School in 2012. She played softball at Gannon University while studying to become an Occupational Therapist. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with her Bachelors Degree (2016) and Masters Degree (2017) in Science from Gannon University. She later became a licensed and registered Occupational Therapist.

Rachel was passionate about her profession as an Occupational Therapist at Health-Pro Heritage, at Concordia at Sumner, where she received the Associate of the Month Award in April 2021. She was a strong Occupational Therapist with great leadership in her facility. She was a patient advocate and suggested “out-of-the-box” ideas to assist her patients in maintaining their independence.

She is preceded in death by maternal grandparents Mary Jane Chapman and James Chapman, and paternal grandfather Pedro C. deGuia.

She is survived by her loving and extraordinary wife of four years, Alyssa deGuia-Davis (formerly of Erie, PA). She is also survived by her parents Rafael S. and Karen (Chapman) deGuia of Canal Fulton, Ohio; her paternal grandmother Pilar S. deGuia of Palmdale, California/Philippines; her brothers Jamie (Melissa) deGuia of Canal Fulton, Ohio; Joey (Lauren) deGuia of Massillon, Ohio; and Karlos deGuia of Canal Fulton, Ohio. She loved being the fun, cheerleading aunt to her nieces and nephews: Airis, Addison, Zoey, Jacksyn, JJ, Camdyn, Ariella, Quinn, and Eleanor. She is survived by her godparents, Art and Pat deGuia, the Davis Family, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that she cherished living life with.

To simply put it, Rachel is and always will be the best. She was the best wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She lived her life with intention and a sense of purpose that is unmatched. She always went above and beyond in her life with her family and in her work. We will cherish the memories that we created with her during her beautiful life. She is now at peace and will forever be watching over us.
