Joanne M Sponseller Obituary

Joanne M. Sponseller, 86, went peacefully to be with her Lord on December 24, 2020.  She was born in Akron to Earl Henninger and Anne Blacklock and has lived in the Akron area all her life.

As a very young lady Joanne met Richard and they fell in love married and started a family. They were an old-school type couple and became best friends. They never missed a Saturday date night as dad worked six and seven days a week to support all of us. But they never missed a date night as they would either be bowling or dancing polka or playing cards with one of the many, many couple friends they had.

She was a member of the FOP, ABC and the women's club. She didn't just light up a room but an entire neighborhood! She made everybody feel special and made friends instantly. We could write 1 million pages and wouldn't cover everything. She never held an actual job but could have been a manager for any company on earth. She loved the simple things in life and people. So many of her friends have already passed but if we could have a showing it would still be overflowing. She was always singing and dancing throughout her day as she cooked gourmet meals for us and did her house work diligently which was always impeccable. When our dad passed she and her longtime friend Don Krites (Who is beloved wife had also passed) dated and we're engaged when he passed. She then moved to Green housing unit and immediately was the ringleader there for parties and gatherings. Yes she made many more friends! You see, when you spent time with her you felt so good and her joy was so infectious! We just can't say enough about the sweet kind and joyful lady we got to call mom. Her last few years brought her closer to the Lord and she was ready to go to her everlasting home…… Heaven.  Christmas was her favorite time of year.  It’s appropriate that God would bring her home at this time when our eyes are focused on Him and his birth.  It gives us strength and reminds us why He came into the world!

Please add some thoughts, stories or memories of her on the House of Eberhardt tribute wall option on this web page. From our beloved mothers lips to you "thank you for the memories and I love you all, until we meet again"

She is reunited with husband, Richard P. Sponseller and very special friend of many years, Don Krites.  She is preceded in death by siblings, Harold, Bill, Bob and Dorothy.

She is survived by children, Bonnie Trout, Rick (Karen), Pat (Patty), Linda (Lynn) Eddy and Tim (Paule’).

Grandchildren, Brian, Mike, Maria, Rick III, Tabitha, Vanessa, Bob and Tim Jr.
