Irene M Buehrle

Irene (nee Pramuka) Buehrle was called to heaven on October 2, 2021, at the age of 93 surrounded by her family, who loved and admired her deeply.  Irene was born in Akron and lived in New Franklin.

Mom lived her Catholic faith.  Mom was a previous parishioner of St Paul Catholic Church and a current parishioner of St Francis de Sales Church, where she volunteered cleaning the church.  Mom was proud to be a mother of nine children, 22 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.  She graduated from St. Thomas School of Nursing and worked as an Emergency Room nurse at Barberton Citizens Hospital until she retired.  Mom and her nursing friends had fun gathering for monthly card parties for more than 40 years.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Robert Buehrle, and son, Thomas Buehrle.

Irene is survived by children Roberta Buehrle, Karen Merz, Dee (Bob) Callen, Jim (Judy) Buehrle, Ken (Pam) Buehrle, Elaine (Rod) Kalbus, Bob (Mary) Buehrle, Ralph (Barbara) Buehrle and daughter-in-law Kathy (Dave) Neal; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law Dick (Mary Francis) Buehrle and Rosmarie Housteau; and many nieces and nephews.

Mom and Dad enjoyed traveling. She loved their excursions to Hawaii, Alaska and Nova Scotia, but especially loved trips to see their children out of state.  She enjoyed hosting large family gatherings and making her legendary fried chicken and stuffed cabbage.  Mom saw to it that all nine children were sent off to school with a warm breakfast and lunch for them would be waiting on the table.

Mom and Dad made sure we all attended Mass every Sunday and St Paul Catholic School.  They emphasized education and encouraged all of us to attend college.  Mom and Dad were hard working and selfless with their Catholic faith central to their lives.  Mom was an inspiration not only to her children but her grandchildren as well.

The family will receive friends on Monday, October 11th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at House of Eberhardt Funeral Home, 472 W Turkeyfoot Lk Rd. (Rt. 619) Portage Lakes.  Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, October 12th at 10:00 a.m. at St Francis de Sales Church, 4019 Manchester Road, Akron, Ohio 44319. Inurnment to follow at Holy Cross cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Francis de Sales Church, 4019 Manchester Road, Akron, Ohio 44319.
