Cody J. Patchen Obituary

Cody John Patchen, 29, went to his heavenly home unexpectantly on March 3, 2021.

Cody was the life of the room; his quick smile and wit would entertain everyone. Cody thought he had the best jokes, best story, and sang and danced like no one was watching.  He could even make the saddest person smile and feel better.  Cody's willingness to help his friends, family and people he did not even know, was his brightest attribute ... you only had to ask.

Anything animal related or outdoorsy you could count on Cody.  He loved to be "in charge" of the fire at the lake or camping. He loved working with his hand and the dirtier the job the better.  He worked as hard as he played, he was a mason cement worker, painter, builder and chef ... he was so very talented in many things and loved to learn something new to add to his talents.

Cody graduated from Green High School and took Culinary classes at Portage Lakes Career Center.  He took great pride in these accomplishments. He was happiest when he could cook for you, grill down at the lake and hang with people and enjoy life.

Cody was preceded in death by his beloved Grandmother, Nada Patchen and treasured mentor/father figure, Jerry Domokur. He leaves to grieve his loss his sisters, Tyia, Sonja and Brandie; Surogate Parents, Diane and Ralph Rote, cousins (who thought of him as a brother) Erica Lawrence, Rachel Lawrence and Zandy Rote, his Grandmother Shiela Kinsy, Uncle Don Rowan, Aunt & Uncle Lisa and Mark Kovac.  He will forever live in the hearts of his nieces and nephews Christapher, Kyla, Kiaira, Kendra, Kase, Aidan, Gaige, Gwendolyn, Liam, Orion, Sage and Quinn. Also surviving are his birth parents Annette and John.

The family will gather with Cody's friends at House of Eberhardt Funeral Home, 472 W. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd. (Rt. 619), Portage Lakes, OH  44319 on Thursday, March 11th from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a memorial service starting at 7 p.m.  officiated by Lisa Walker Hensley followed by an open forum of sharing memories by those in attendance.  We respectfully request those attending calling hours and services practice social distancing and to wear face masks.

The family wishes to sincerely thank the Summit County Sheriff's Office and Summit County Coroner's office personnel for their kindness and professionalism.  We also deeply revere the services of House of Eberhardt Funeral Home.
