Arthur R Dennis Jr. Obituary

Arthur R. Dennis Jr., 83, passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord on Friday, July 17, 2020 while at home under his loving wife’s care.  After battling several illnesses over the past few years, complications from dementia finally took their toll.

He was born to parents Arthur Dennis Sr. and Loretta Dennis in New Martinsville, WV, and spent his entire life in the Akron area after moving here as a child with his family.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 62 years Marion L. Dennis; four sons Anthony Dennis, Joey (Patty) Dennis, Danny (Kim) Dennis, and Timothy (Heather) Dennis; ten grandchildren Levi, Amandyn, Brittany, Caitlin, Tayler, Andru, Dylan, Jackson, Madalyn, and Kiana; three great-grandchildren Haylie, Paisley and Sadie, sisters Delores Boatwright and Jean Dennis.  He was preceded in death by his sisters Iola, Janis, and Zondra, and brother Jimmy.

Arthur proudly served his country during the Korean conflict as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps earning the rank of Corporal, and often referred to the life lessons he learned there while raising his sons.  An electrician by trade and a member of IBEW local 306, Arthur went on to teach his sons the trade.  He was a Thoroughbred and Standardbred racehorse owner most of his life, and he loved to tell stories and show photos of the horses he owned and the races they won to anyone who would listen.  He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and also passed that love of hunting and fishing on to his sons.

The family has chosen to have a private service with immediate burial at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.  A memorial service for close friends and family may be announced at a later date.
