Annmarie (Cookro) Nemes, 84, of Akron, Ohio died peacefully on December 28, 2020. She leaves behind her loving husband of 64 years, Joe Nemes and her 4 daughters, Denise Bench, Lisa (Zoran) Milosevic, Gina (Ed) Green, and Michelle (Bob) Headley. Her grandchildren Stephanie Carrino, Joe Preto, Brian (Elise) Green, Tony Preto, Molly (Taylor) Wolfe, Dan and David Bench and Samantha Toth. Along with her great granddaughters Amelia and Eve Green, and Evelyn Wolfe. Her sister Patty (Tom) Hercules, and her brothers Tony (Martha) Cookro and Pete (Beverly) Cookro and sister-in-law Rosemary Francis. Along with her many cousins, nieces and nephews and close friends. She was predeceased in death by her parents, Patrick and Jennie (Piazza) Cookro also of Akron, Ohio and her son-in-law, Terry Bench.
She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered as a vivacious fun loving woman who could decorate anything from a condo to a chateau on a limited budget with attention to detail and vivid imagination and creativity. She was artistically talented and loved to garden.
Annmarie graduated from Kenmore High School and maintained lifetime friendships with many of her close classmates. She spent a majority of her life raising her family in Medina, Ohio, where she was a member of the Women’s Junior Auxiliary, Medina Community Hospital volunteer, Ella Canavan Teacher’s Aide and an active member of Kings Daughters. She later owned and operated a women’s boutique, Mary Mary, taught decorating and interior design classes at a variety of venues and would have loved to have been on HGTV if it had existed in those days. She was an avid collector and loved to travel.
Her last hours were spent in the loving care of excellent medical personnel who demonstrated compassion and comfort during her final days at Summa Akron City Hospital. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic epidemic, there will be no immediate memorial. There will be a delayed celebration of life announced later in 2021. We pray that she is carried in angels wings to her heavenly home.
