New Franklin—Rosemary D. Manley, 79, passed away peacefully with her loved ones at her side and on her own terms, December 25, 2017. She was born in Yonkers, New York, the eldest of six children, to Andrew C. and Mary C. (nee DiLello) Gotto. One of her early accomplishments was appearing on the Ed Sullivan show as part of an accordion orchestra. She moved to this area when she was 16 and graduated in 1956 from Coventry High School. She was a Parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and enjoyed going to casinos and playing Bingo. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt and became the Matriarch of the family. She hosted many holiday parties, picnics and get togethers and supported her family with love and confidence. She was a wonderful cook. She retired from Reiter Dairy in 1998 with 20 years of service and was a thirty five year member of Post 3383 Ladies’ Auxiliary. Rosemary was a wizard with numbers and enjoyed providing loved ones with financial advice.
She is survived by loving husband, George, sons, Michael, Mark (Shelley), and Richard (Denisa Caughron), daughter, Theresa (James) Cogar, brothers, Joseph “Pepper” (Michelle) Gotto and Anthony (Georgene) Gotto, sisters, Elvira (Nils) Hoiseth, Andrea Snyder and Barbara (James) Dawson, grandchildren, Andrew (Liz) Manley, Brittany Fisher, Matthew Manley , Emma Rose Cogar, Ryan (Lauren) , Kyle (Valerie) and Alyssa Shackle and 4 great grandchildren.
A Memorial Funeral service will be held Friday, January 12, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. at House of Eberhardt Funeral Home, 472 W. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd. (Rt 619) Portage Lakes. Family and friends will be received Friday from 5 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
