Marlene Elizabeth (nee Donnelly) Boyce passed away on January 7, 2018 surrounded by loved ones.Marlene was a parishioner at St. Frances de Sales church. A graduate of St. Vincent High School, Marlene went on to receive bachelors and masters degrees in education, and had a long career as a teacher for Akron Public Schools. Marlene had a love for the classics and the arts, and enjoyed working with the drama department at Central-Hower High School, where she made life-long friends. Marlene spent her summers with her grandchildren, and prided herself on hosting family gatherings and holidays. Marlene loved her family unconditionally. Marlene was a member of the Manchester Womens' Club, and her special group of friends, the St. V Girls.
Marlene is preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Julia Donnelly, her brother Daniel Donnelly, and her daughter, Roberta Long. Marlene is survived by daughters Deborah Boyce and Rebecca (Jim) Mercer, grandchildren Meighan (Brian) Laughlin, Molly (Jerreme) Gearhart, and Jacob Mercer, nephew Daniel (Kim) Donnelly, great-grandchildren Ian, Otto, Rowan, Brooke, Max, Brendan, & Emme, siblings Rosemary Donnelly, Phyllis Hamlin, and Gerald (Patricia) Donnelly, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, January 15 at 10 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 4019 Manchester Rd., Coventry. Family and friends will be received Sunday, January, 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. at House of Eberhardt Funeral Home, 472 W. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd. (Rt. 619) Portage Lakes.
