John George Devol

John George Devol, age 63, died after a courageous battle against kidney cancer on April 9th, 2024, surrounded by loved ones.

John is survived by his wife, Crystal; his brothers, Dave (Gayle), Bill (Diane), Tom (Leslie), and Steve; his stepchildren, Kaitlyn (Willie), Lindsey (Ethen), and Nickolas (Maddy); and his grandchildren, Xander and Xyla. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dudley and Mary Devol.

John was born on March 12th, 1961, in Akron, Ohio. He retired from Hycom, Inc., where he was a maintenance manager.

John enjoyed weightlifting, Barberton Magics football, spending time outdoors with his dogs, and traveling; with his favorite place to visit being Chicago. His family and friends will always remember him as an active, goofy, and caring person.

Memorial calling hours will be held on Sunday, April 21, 2024 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at House of Eberhardt Funeral Home, 472 W Turkeyfoot Lake Rd. (Rt. 619) Portage Lakes, New Franklin, Ohio.

All are welcome to attend and celebrate John’s life. The family would like to thank all of those who cared for him at Summa Akron City Hospital. Donations can be sent to your choice of animal shelter since John believed in giving animals a second chance.
